There is no way to get around it, playing paintball will cost money. Thankfully you don’t need to drop hundreds of dollars to get all the equipment, you can rent the gear from the field that you are going to.

Cost to Play Paintball Per Person
If you are going to play paintball at a field, expect to pay anywhere from $35 – $70 for entry, paint, and if you need to rent any gear. This can easily increase in price if you choose an upgraded rental package (if the field has one) and more paint.
Paintballs are usually sold in bags of 500 rounds or cases of 2,000 rounds and sometimes are cheaper if purchased by the case. A bag of paint can cost between $12 to $20 and cases of paint can be purchased for $45 to $85.

If this is your first time playing paintball, I highly suggest borrowing gear from someone you know or renting gear from the field. Starting off with the smallest investment can help you both enjoy your first time out and not have to worry about picking up your own gear.
If you do wish to buy your own gear, you can purchase starter kits for as little as $150 or several hundred to thousands of dollars for the top of the line gear.
Cost to Play Paintball for a Party or Group
If you are going to play paintball with a group, most every field has a group rate for 10 or more people at a cheaper rate than individually. You can expect to save anywhere from 5% to 20% per person by booking your group in advance.
If you want to have a privet group and just play against each other, most fields offer this as well for an added cost. This way, your group gets it’s own personal ref and sometimes your own privet table in the staging area. This is a great option for birthday parties, team building, company activities, and youth groups.
Both of these options will require you to book in advance so the field can properly prepare for your arrival. Contact your field for details on what they need for your group.
Ways to Save Money
Paintball can be expensive, but if you shop around and ask the right questions, it can save you a couple bucks!
One thing you can do is check Groupon for group discounts at your local field! Most of them will require a group of 5 or more players to redeem and may have some restrictions. But on average you can save anywhere from $2 to $5 per person!
Another place you can look is Paintball Tickets for a slightly cheaper individual price. It is not an immediate transaction, you basically make a donation (they work with Hope For Hansens) and within 72 hours you receive your ticket to the field. Make sure your field is a participating location before donating by checking their field locator here:

Finally, check in with your field and see if they have any special deals! Lots of fields have discounts for active Military, Police, and Fire Rescue personnel. Plus, some fields even give free admission for your birthday!
